Dr William (Bill) Summerfield was Secretary of the Division of Applied Mathematics and ANZIAM for 23 years from 1984 to 2007. This is a contribution to ANZIAM which I don't anticipate will be threatened. Bill saw off 11 chairs of ANZIAM and 6 treasurers. I do recall his farewell at the Conference Dinner in 2007 at Katoomba, where there was a five minute standing ovation.
